“I’ve been playing these games since the Forest Temple days, and Fairy Tales is definitely the most unique one in a long time. The fairies add a whole new dimension literally. It’s no longer just about where you stand, but where you drag those little glowing helpers. Playing this in co-op is a blast, but if you try it solo, be prepared for some serious mental gymnastics.

Trying to jump with one hand, move with the other, and drag a fairy with the mouse at the same time is basically a test of whether your brain can split into three pieces! Some of the later levels are really tight on the ‘Green Emerald’ time limit, which can be frustrating, but the satisfaction of finally clicking that last fairy into place to save your partner is awesome.

Quick rating: 8.5/10, a charming and challenging addition to the franchise!”

2. Description

This is the sixth official installment in the legendary series, and it introduces one of the most unique gameplay shifts yet: the inclusion of helpful fairies.
While previous games focused on environmental gimmicks (like light beams or ice physics), Fairy Tales requires you to interact with entities that are not the main characters to progress.
The game maintains the series’ core philosophy of perfect teamwork, requiring both characters to survive and reach their respective exits to successfully clear a stage.

3. Game Modes

Co-op Mode (2 Players): The classic “best friend” mode. Two players share one keyboard, with one person focusing on Fireboy and the other on Watergirl, while both cooperate to drag the fairies across the screen.
Solo Mode (1 Player): A true multitasking challenge. You control both characters with separate hands and must use the mouse to manage the fairies, essentially controlling three things at once.

4. How to Play

Controls: Fireboy is controlled with the Arrow keys, and Watergirl is controlled with the WASD keys.
The Fairy Mechanic: Use your Mouse to click and drag the glowing fairies. You must move them onto specific sensors or levers to activate doors and elevators that the characters cannot reach themselves.
Elemental Survival: Fireboy can walk through fire/lava but dies in water. Watergirl can walk through water but dies in fire. Both must avoid the green toxic slime at all costs.
Ranking: Your performance is graded based on how quickly you finish and whether you collected all the red and blue diamonds. Aim for the “Green Emerald” rank for a perfect clear.

5. Magic Fairies & Color Coding (Key Feature)

The standout feature of this edition is the colored fairies scattered throughout the levels.
Color Matching: Most fairies are color-coded (Yellow, Blue, Pink). You must drag them to a pedestal or lamp of the same color to trigger an action, like lowering a bridge or opening a gate.
White Fairies: These are “Wild” fairies. They are extra rare and can be used to activate any lamp or lever, regardless of its color, adding a layer of tactical choice to the puzzles.
